DeafLINK

Our DeafLINK Program provides sign language interpreters, advocacy and education on issues of importance to the deaf and hard of hearing.
The State of Michigan is composed of the seventh largest population of deaf and hard of hearing citizens in the United States. However, it has only been in recent years that the world recognized American Sign Language (ASL) as a true language. In the years following, many high schools, colleges, and universities began to accept ASL classes for foreign language requirements.
Since this recognition, people around the country are more interested than ever in this beautiful and unique language. DeafLINK is proud to offer ASL courses held at our office on 154 West Street in Battle Creek.

Sorenson Video Relay: 866-327-8877. Call this number and give them the phone number of the consumer you wish to contact that has a video phone. The interpreter will then place the call and interpret the conversation for you.

Michigan Relay Center: 800-649-3777. This number should be called to contact a consumer with a TTY. The center will place the call and then will interpret the call with the consumer.

Our office also offers intermediate level sign language courses. Contact Debbie Reeves, DeafLINK coordinator, at 269-288-0464, for further details.
